On November 23rd, Honda’s event aimed to express appreciation to its fans, “Honda Racing THANKS DAY 2014,” was held at Twin Ring Motegi on the sunny Sunday.
The event which has become a yearly tradition is widely known for a variety of programs reflecting the vast motorsports activity of Honda not only in four-wheel but also in motorcycle road racing, trial, and motocross, but what draws the most popularity is the program related to SUPER GT. As if the manufacturer has responded to fan’s request, there were many SUPER GT related programs at this year’s event, and in addition to NSX CONCEPT-GT that competed in the series this year, three HSVs that served as Honda’s flagship in the series up to last season also appeared at the venue. Some 13,000 fans who gathered at Motegi were enraptured by the exhaust sound coming out of the SUPER GT machines.

Unique feature of this event is that not only the racing drivers but also motorcycle riders wearing a leather suit come together. Naoki Yamamoto, ranked fourth in SUPER GT point ranking, shared the center spot in front row with Indy Car driver Takuma Sato. Series title is most expected next season!

 

  

 

 

HSV, which yielded the ace position to NSX CONCEPT-GT this season, appeared at the circuit after a long while. It was receiving cheers from enthusiastic fans.
No.100 RAYBRIG HSV-010 was driven by Hideki Mutoh. Fans enjoyed the ride around Twin Ring Motegi in the passenger seat.

 

  

 

 

SUPER GT Special Race became the highlight of the day.
Five Honda NSX CONCEPT-GT from GT500 class and two Honda CR-Z GT from GT300 class appeared in front of the fans. It was a special race which Honda’s seven works GT machines that showcased exciting season went head-to-head. No.32 EPSON NSX CONCEPT-GT captured the pole in the qualifying held in the morning, but No.100 NSX CONCEPT-GT flipped the game during the pit stops in the race in afternoon to get the first win of the “season.”

 

 

 

Drivers, team managers, and everybody that had come together on the day lined up on the home straight in front of the pit and waved their hands to the spectators in the finale to mark the end of the fun day. Rooting from the fans included voices expecting remarkable result next season, and all members of Honda squad showed their determination to bring back the title.
