I am very happy to have won the pole position. I am grateful to everyone at Toyota/Lexus and the sponsors for giving me this opportunity to compete in this series. On the lap where I ran the fastest time, I made a bit of a mistake in the third sector, and if it hadn’t been for that I think I could have run another two or three tenths of a second faster. I’m sure I could have gotten a time in the 1’18 range. That is just how perfectly the machine has been set up. I want to run tomorrow’s race without any mistakes. If I can avoid any mistakes, we can win. I’m sure.

It was my first personal pole position, so I am very happy. It is an auspicious start to the new season. I felt that the 2015 model GT-R was fast from the pre-season tests. Our Dunlop tires also fit today’s conditions well. [My partner Andre] Couto made a fantastic time attack in Q1 and the team supported both of us very well. I don’t know what the conditions will be like in tomorrow’s race, but I going to try to win together with the team.
