No.36 PETRONAS TOM'S RC F

Daisuke Ito

I was confident going into this race. But, then we had transmission trouble in yesterday's free practice and we were unable to make it past 1 in the qualifying. The race was held in difficult conditions, but I kept running determined not to lose hope until the very end. James [Rossiter] succeeded in moving us up in position, and I believe we were able to change to slick [dry-condition] tires with good timing. After a number of races where we were unable to get a good result, I'm very happy that I have finally been able to get a win with the No. 36 team [that I am driving for from this season]. I want to help keep this momentum going and try to win the championship.

James Rossiter

This was a great race. The greatest thing of all was the timing on Daisuke [Ito] in changing from rain to slick tires. I was the starting driver and ended up running my stint in the rain. It was challenging to run in those conditions, but I was able to pass several of the cars in front of me, which I enjoyed very much. I want to work now with Daisuke to keep this momentum going and win the championship.

Andre Couto

I feel great about having been able to win this race. It is wonderful to be able to win the Suzuka 1000km with its great tradition, and since this happened to be my 100th GT race, I'm sure this will be a memory I will never forget. Everyone on the team did a tremendous job, and I am blessed with great teammates. This year I will continue competing to win the championship.

Katsumasa Chiyo

It was a long, tough race. Before the race, with our weight handicap we knew it would be a difficult race, but I was able to get 2nd place in the qualifying and I felt satisfied with that. It was tough going on the wet track in the early part of the race, but the timing of our tire change went well, and after that we were able to overtake a number of cars. I'm also glad that Andre [Couto] was able to get a win in his 100th GT race.

Ryuichiro Tomita

In today's conditions, I thought it would be difficult to be competitive in the first half of the race. But, a number of elements came together favorably and we were able to move up in position. Because we were able to make the most of the team's strengths, it turned out to be a good race for us. I wasn't able to make much of a contribution when the team won at Fuji Speedway [Tomita didn't drive in the race], so I'm happy that I was able to contribute something to this win today."
