Hironori Takeuchi : "Honestly, distinctions between us regarding the car set-up became clear this year... It's a bit hard for me to drive with Tachikawa's setup. It's better than usual because I can run with my own set-up in this race. We're currently looking to find a setup that compromises.." RACING PROJECT BANDOH seems to have done an excellent job of developing this new car, which made its debut at the previous round. Yamaji fought hard to improve on his best lap, setting a 1'32.405", but he couldn't beat the lap of the No.19 car. Driving the No.34 Toyota MR-S, Matsuda sat in third with a time of 1'32.467", followed by Tanaka in the No.11 Ferrari (1'32.937"). Yamada clocked a 1'32.762" in the No.55 Viper and Sasaki a 1'33.421" n the No.31 MR-S. In the end, the pole position for the GT300 class went to the driver pair of Aoki/Tanaka in the No.19 Celica. "We knew that the potential of the car was high when we were at Sugo. We tested for this race beforehand, and we managed to clean up the problems in the early stage of development. So we were confident that we could get the pole position today," commented Aoki. Tanaka added, "I did nothing today except cheer from the pit (laughing). I think the first thing here is that two Toyota cars got pole positions on Toyota's home track."
