JGTC 2004 All-Star 200 and JGTC All-Star Sprints

Cars competing in the JGTC make their first appearance in the USA

For the first time ever, a JGTC race will take place in the USA. The "JGTC 2004 All-Star 200" and the "JGTC All-Star Sprints" will be held at California Speedway on December 18 and 19.
All 21 cars competing (10 from GT500, 11 from GT300) have been selected through a variety of criteria including; votes from the fans, the machines' achievements in the past, and through the wishes of local promoters. The cars will be on hand to show their signature performance at the Californian circuit.

JGTC All-Star 200 - Motorcycle add course

The 200 mile race will be held on the "Motorcycle add Course" (2.68miles / 4.32km), composed of an infield section and part of the oval track. Up to now, the JGTC has never visited any tracks featuring banking, though the series has run on an oval on one occasion, at the 1997 All-Star race at Twin Ring Motegi when the Super Speedway was used. At that time, two chicanes were improvised out of tires on the oval track.

The schedule for the 200 mile race is very tight; with both qualifying and the race taking place on the same day (December 18). There is only a two-hour interval between the end of the qualifying session and the start of the final race. For all competitors, two pit stops will be mandatory during the 75-lap event and the teams must refuel and change all four tires at each stop. Moreover, pit stops carried out before the 15-lap mark will not count toward either of the required stops.

JGTC All-Star Sprints - Interior Test Course

Two sprint races, each lasting 24 minutes will be held on Sunday; one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. These two sprints will be held on the "Interior Test Course" (1.45miles / 2.33km). The starting grid of the first race will be decided according to the results of the JGTC All-Star 200 from the previous day. The grid for the second race will be determined by the results of the first sprint.

One of the team's two or three entered drivers must compete in each sprint race, and the same driver cannot run in both sprints. The results will be decided according to the total points scored in each race. Contrary to regular JGTC races, a pit stop in either of the sprints would be fatal.

Although it's a non-title exhibition race, all 45 competing GT drivers are professional racing drivers and will be battling for victory from lights to flag. For this reason, it is impossible to predict the outcome for both the GT500 and GT300 classes in this inaugural JGTC event on American soil.

No.1 Xanavi NISMO Z / No.35 Yellow Hat YMS Supra / No.18 TAKATA DOME NSX

In the GT500 class, all four regular Nissan Fairlady Zs (Nissan 350Z) are entered in the All-Star race. Nissan teams should be highly motivated as the Fairlady Z is Nissan's flagship car. Therefore, it is only natural that they should be expected to use this event as a platform for promotion for the "Z car" in the US market. Moreover, NISMO won both the Driver's and the Team's title this year so we can expect them to put on a very strong showing for the American fans.

The morale of the Honda camps seem to be high. All four NSXs will run in the All-Star races with their regular driver line-ups.

Toyota, on the contrary, will send only two Supras; the No.35 car entered by KRAFT and the No.37 Toyota Team Tom's machine. The Toyota Supra has ended its production and is no longer sold in the American market....

No.16 M-TEC NSX / No.43 ARTA Garaiya / No.19 WedsSport Celica

The GT300 class Driver's champions will also come to the USA; Tetsuya Yamano and Hiroyuki Yagi from M-TEC Co.,Ltd. will both be on hand, and will be joined by a third driver for this event, Haruki Kurosawa, who raced in the Le Mans Endurance Series this season in a Porsche GT3.

Racing Project Bandoh will run with Manabu Orido, whose regular ride is the Team Advan-Tsuchiya No.25 Supra from the GT 500 class.
An American car will also run in the event; a Viper not entered in the JGTC this season, being campaigned in the All-Star race by Team TAISAN.

This event will take place as "GT LIVE". Apart from the JGTC races, several other forms of motorsport entertainment will be featured throughout the weekend.
