Long-distance fight at super high-speed track
could become climax of early season

After re-opening last year upon completion of a total makeover, Fuji Speedway has lost none of its high-speed essence. This Golden Week's 500km race is sure to provide high drama over its entire distance.

No.1 ZENT CERUMO SC
Who'll come out on top, one may ask. It could well be the #1 ZENT Cerumo SC430 of Yuji Tachikawa and Toranosuke Takagi, Tachikawa and Cerumo having been victorious here no fewer than five times already. Or it might be the identical #36 OPEN INTERFACE TOM'S SC430, that car winning on its debut at Suzuka (Juichi Wakisaka/Andre Lotterer) in March. Or will it be an NSX, or a Z car?

No.18 TAKATA DOME NSX
The #18 TAKATA DOME NSX with Ryo Michigami and Takashi Kogure was top of the timesheets at the recent SUPER GT Official test, held on March 28th and 29th at the track. After winning in Round 2 at Okayama, the car now has 90kgs success ballast on board, making this next round a tough race for the pair. However, there's the sister Team Honda Racing machine (#8 ARTA NSX) with Ralph Firman and Daisuke Ito, which should prove to be strong.

No.12 CALSONIC IMPUL Z
Second in the recent test were Benoit Treluyer and Kazuki Hoshino in the #12 CALSONIC IMPUL Z. Fairlady Z power has yet to win this season; though the cars have run well in both the opening races. NISMO's #23 XANAVI NISMO Z with Satoshi Motoyama and Tsugio Matsuda are sure to be aiming for the win. The car seems to have the reliability that eluded the team last year at the track.

Another possibility for victory is either of the two Supras. The car has demonstrated a particular affinity with Fuji, and it could be one of these eponymous cars that cross the line first.

No.27 direxiv ADVAN 320R
In GT300, the two rounds so far this year have produced two first-time winners. The #88 AKTIO Murcie RG-1 with Marco Apicella and Yasutaka Hinoi took the checkered flag first at the season opener at Suzuka, while the #27 direxiv 320R (Shogo Mitsuyama/Nobuteru Taniguchi) was first at Okayama. The celebrants on the podium have really changed since last year.

No.87 TRIKE JAPAN Murcie RG-1
It seems that the cars with bigger powerplants are going to be the easy favorites in a fight at this track where power is all, particularly for the long straight. It is however, just this one race.
As well as the #88 car, the sister #87 TRIKE Japan Murcie RG-1 (WADA-Q/Koji Yamanishi) should be considered a strong contender. Also the Vemac entries, the #62 WILLCOM ADVAN VEMAC 408R of Shinsuke Shibahara and Hiroyuki Yagi and the #96 EBBRO BTEC MAZIORA 350R with Takuya Kurosawa and Tsubasa Kurosawa should also be considered prime candidates. Finally, the #110 TOTALBENEFIT GREENTEC BOXSTER (Hideshi Matsuda/Ichijo Suga) has grabbed attention with its recent third place finish, and should also run well.

However, 500kms is a long race and anything can happen. Porsche or Z power might take the day, or it could be the #2 Privée Zurich Apple Shiden (Kazuho Takahashi/Hiroki Katoh, using the proven engine entered at Daytona 24 Hours.
And there's always the #55 DHG ADVAN FORD GT of Hidetoshi Mitsusada and Daisuke Ikeda - sure to give an energetic performance at this event after disappointment in the opening two rounds.
