Short distance & individual competition, all new to SUPER GT
Sprint Cup, a different twist than the Series races!
SUPER GT team managers get down in Legend Cup!!

An epoch-making race event in the Japanese motor sports history, "JAF Grand Prix SUPER GT & Formula NIPPON FUJI SPRINT CUP 2010" (Fuji Sprint CUP), will take place on November 12-14 at Fuji Speedway (Shizuoka Prefecture). As the event title indicates, the premier of production car racing, SUPER GT, and the highest category of domestic formula car racing, Formula NIPPON, will be held in conjunction. With a different approach taken for SUPER GT from the regular series races, it sure will be a unique racing event which fans can't miss. Also, many SUPER GT team managers who had achieved fame as a racing driver in the past will go against each other behind the wheel in another key race of the event, Legend Cup, which has become one of the hottest topics before the event.

Super short-distanced individual competition! It's truly a driver's ability!

As seen in the name "Sprint Cup," the special event underway will be raced in 100 km, which is very short. In addition, GT500 and GT300 are raced separately and have 2 races each, Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday. Regular races of this season were competed in a distance from 250 to 700 km with drivers changing during the race. But for the Fuji Sprint Cup, cars don't need to make pit-stop during the race in since a driver will drive the whole distance by himself. Another word, if a series event were considered as a single-match group competition, then Fuji Sprint Cup would be a 2-round individual competition.
In a regular season race, teams need to execute a tactic with two drivers, tires, etc in consideration, but the upcoming event allows one driver to take everything in his hands without anything in his mind but to cross the finish line first. With the short distance, drivers should be charging from early stage on the clearer track without any cars in different class running, thus making it a competition of pure speed of each driver.
Fans can watch their favorite driver's run from the start to finish and the drivers can concentrate in their driving without giving a thought to their teammates. The event should showcase some fantastic battles that are as exciting as those in the series races, in not just one but two races.

Aim for the honorable JAF Grand Prix, Minister's award, and lots of prize money!

"JAF Grand Prix" is staked at the event which marks one of the greatest motor sports title's restoration in 20 years. In fact, the race is a historical event and whoever wins it will have his name engraved in history. In addition, Award of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will be awarded to the overall winning team that scored the highest total points in two races. Even more, a total of 100 million yen prize money will be offered at the event. A driver or team can grab up to 7 million yen by winning 2 races. Who doesn't psyched up by this?

Fans at FSW can also participate to the new "East vs. West" contest.

A new style of competition will be introduced at the event. Drivers will be divided into East and West teams based on their hometown (foreign drivers are allocated to each teams by the event committee's decision), and the winning team will be decided by totaling the points that each driver obtained. Prize money will be provided to driver of the winning team in this competition as well (commemorative gifts for the support races, etc).
Also, fans that showed up to Fuji Speedway can participate in the East vs. West competition too. Shops and restaurants in Fuji Speedway will be divided into East and West teams, and a purchase of supportive merchandises and food/drink at shops/restaurants will add points to the respective team. Points from fans' purchases may play an important part in deciding the winner since the competition is predicted to be very tight. Furthermore, fans who bought supportive merchandises of the winning team can get event's exclusive souvenir just like their winning drivers! We encourage all fans coming to Fuji Speedway to participate to this initiative.

20 racing greats will get into a serious battle in "Legend Cup".

S.Nakajima / A.Suzuki
One of the main attractions of the event is "ENEOS SUSTINA LEGEND CUP." A number of racing greats from the 80's to the recent years will go head-to-head in this race. Many of them are now pursing important roles to support SUPER GT including team managers. Former Formula One drivers, Satoru Nakajima (No.32 EPSON HSV-010 team manger), Aguri Suzuki (No.8 ARTA HSV-010 team manager), and Toranosuke Takagi (No.38 ZENT CERUMO SC430 team manager) as well as a Le Man 24 hour race winner, Masanori Sekiya (No.1 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 team manager), will take part in the race. Kunimitsu Takahashi (No.100 RAYBRIG HSV-010 team manager) who has captured numerous victories in domestic races is competing against other racing legends as the oldest participant at the age of 70! Team manager of 2010 GT300 champion HASEMI MOTOR SPORT, Masahiro Hasemi (No.3 TOMICA Z), as well as Masahiko Kondo (No.24 HIS ADVAN KONDO GT-R team manager) are also taking the wheel at the race. Keiji Matsumoto, Geoff Lees, Takao Wada and many other old familiar names are seen on the entry list.

K.Takahashi / M.Hasemi
All legendary drivers will sit behind the wheel of a racing spec Mazda Roadster. Drivers of age 50 year old or older will be given time-handicap. Of course, prize money will be given in this race as well. Provided with such conditions, each "competitor" must be really serious (staking all their pride that they had achieved) in the contention. The race should become a sure provider of excitements to the fans who know the active years of those legends as well as fans who only know them as team managers.

Lots of races and events you can't just miss.

Fuji Sprint Cup will also stage other breathtaking races such as a Vitz Cup race to decide the No. 1 in Japan, the Minor Touring (race to be held on Saturday) which is a revival of popular touring car racing of old time, and a decisive race to determine the top F4 constructor. Off the track, there will be many interesting programs and events that cannot be realized if it weren't for a big event such as this one including specialized vehicles (armored car, etc) of Ground Self-defense Force on display, demo-flight by Air Self-defense Force's fighters (Saturday at noon), and various limited merchandises on sale.
Be sure to be there on November 12th (Friday, qualifying), 13th (Saturday, Race 1), and 14th (Sunday, Race 2). And for those fans that cannot make it to Fuji Speedway, J SPORTS will broadcast live not only the races on Saturday and Sunday, but also the qualifying on the 12th. In addition, the broadcaster will air a special JAF Grand Prix program from November 8th. Tune in and don't miss it.
