GTA held its regular press conference on the race day of SUPER GT Round 7 Autopolis, and GTA Chairman Masaaki Bandoh answered questions from journalists and explained about the progress of unifying the technical regulations with DTM.

A journalist asked a question, "There is a report in the media with regards to the GT500 class' technical regulations integration with DTM (Class 1) that DTM has said they want to postpone the adoption of 2-liter turbo engine for two years. Is there any comments on this from GTA?" Replying to the question, Chairman Bandoh explained that he visited Germany for DTM's final round held at Hockenheim last month and held a discussion with the stakeholders of ITR, the governing body of DTM, and German manufacturers. "I went to confirm about this issue as well as sustenance of the collaboration between two parties. I came back with it and then discussed with the manufacturers of Japan the other day. We are precedingly using an inline 4-cylinder turbo engine and there is no change in that. We have been and will continue to be discussing positively with the German side." He expressed that they are not in a stage to make any announcements yet at this point on individual issues and said that GTA would want to make an official statement on the shared view of both sides after discussing mutually between Japan and Germany.

Because of both series having participations by many global automobile enterprises, it seems that there are a number of challenges and issues involving worldwide auto-industry as well as additional car development cost that need to be addressed. Realization of a new international exchange of GT race is certainly hoped by many.
