GT300 class Q1 qualifying session at Round 6 SUGO will be divided into two groups based on this year's regulations.

Entry list of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Round 6 "SUGO GT 300km RACE" (Sep 15 - Qualifying, Sep 16 - Race) was released on September 3. It has been decided to conduct Q1 session of GT300 class qualifying by dividing the pack into two groups at the event, and the detail of the grouping was also shared.

To address the growing number of participating cars in the GT300 class, the 2018 SUPER GT Sporting Regulations allows to hold the Q1 qualifying with divided groups (Group A, B) only for GT300 class at a circuit which can be anticipated to have a congested track with traffic during the qualifying, but this is the first time the rule will actually be adopted.

Grouping was done based on the competition result (team points) by the end of Round 5 Fuji. Top seven cars from each group, a total of 14 cars, can advance to Q2, and, hence, the number of cars at overall will not change from usual races.

Q1 session time will also be divided, and Group A and B will each have 10 minutes. GT500 class Q1 will also be changed from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
