Master agreement for holding a Malaysian event in 2020 was signed on November 10th at Twin Ring Motegi, where the Round 8 of the series is hosted, and Fahrizal Hasan, managing partner of HARO SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT SDN BHD (HARO), and Masaaki Bandoh, Chairman of GTA Co.,Ltd, held a joint press conference.
The agreement is intended for engaging Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia for a series event in 2020, and it was revealed that the race will be the first night race of the SUPER GT series. Sepang hosted an exhibition race (former JGTC) in 2000. Since then, the circuit hosted 13 events until 2013. It would be the first event in Malaysia in seven years if SUPER GT comes back to Sepang in 2020.

Malaysia-based HARO is a sports, entertainment and marketing firm established in 2016, with a core business in promoting football, golf, and e-sports in Malaysia. The company leads the acquisition of sponsors and utilization of IP (Intellectual Property), including branding, for Pahang Football Association (Pahang FA), a Malaysian professional football club. HARO's wide range of business also expands to up-and-rising e-Sports connecting gamers from around the world to the virtual arena. In Golf, HARO founded a golf scholarship project with the aim of making young Malaysian golfers professional that will represent Malaysia in the international scene.

In the press conference, Hasan of HARO commented, "SUPER GT is coming back to Malaysia in 2020. It will be the first ever night race for SUPER GT, and I'm sure it will be a special race that will remain in the history. We had a party from GTA to visit Sepang the other day to check the lighting facility used for the night race. Thirteen SUPER GT races held at Sepang were under hot sunlight, but many spectators brought themselves to see the event every year. With the race being held under the lighting system, we will try to bring even more people to the circuit in 2020.
“One of the HARO's goals is to raise the recognition of SUPER GT not only in Malaysia, but also to many other countries in Southeast Asia and establish it as a brand. And then ultimately, we will aim a step higher at global-level, with support from the partnership between Malaysia and Japan, and also roll out different kinds of programs that are attractive to younger generation such as internships, etc. We will put our hands together from here to further deepen the relationship between Malaysia and Japan and to bring more SUPER GT fans to Malaysia as well as Japan from all over the world." Hasan stressed the importance of holding new SUPER GT event at Sepang.

"GTA has decided to establish a partnership with HARO SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT for holding an event at Sepang International Circuit in 2020. The event will be the first night race of SUPER GT which will be realized by using the new lighting system installed at the circuit. I understand that HARO is a highly recognized company that operates a soccer team in Malaysia and also successful in the branding business in sports. Being able to establish partnership with a promoter like HARO is something very delightful to us, GTA, who promotes globalization, and we look forward to working together with HARO in our effort to improve the recognition of SUPER GT in Malaysia.
“In terms of motorsports in Malaysia, we have had thirteen events in the past, and the results have shown that the recognition as well as reputation are quite high. We hope that not only the drivers, teams and car manufacturers but also everyone involved in SUPER GT will work together with the local staff involved in operations at Sepang so that we can share the enjoyment of motorsports more with the people of Malaysia and make more people become a fan of motorsports. At the same time, we are hoping to create a race event which allows both countries to understand the automobile culture of the other and also to contribute through SUPER GT in the promotion of interaction and friendship between Malaysia and Japan.
“Detail will be shared later in other opportunity, but GTA's aim is to create a race bonded closely to the local community and which the fans in Japan and Southeast Asia can enjoy, and also to create more motorsports fans through races with higher quality. I would like to ask for your continuous support in this endeavor." Chairman expressed the commitment for the Malaysian event.

Signing ceremony took place after the press conference, and Hasan of HARO and GTA Chairman Bandoh both signed the agreement. Handshake between the two marked a new step towards the realization of Malaysian event.
