On February 13, Subaru Corporation and Subaru Tecnica International (STI) announced an overview of their plans for motorsport participation in the 2019 season.

Regarding SUPER GT participation for this season, the SUBARU BRZ GT300 will be entered in the GT300 class. The driver pair will be the same as last season with Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi. The team manager will be Makoto Shibuya of STI, and R&D SPORT (President: Shinji Motojima) will be responsible for the team management, as with last season.
The competition machine for 2019 will have a horizontally opposed-cylinder Boxer engine with improved endurance reliability and increased thermal efficiency, while the chassis features optimized aerodynamics and improved roadholding performance. With this more competitive car, the team will be going of a long-awaited GT300 class series championship.
On March 10 (Sun.) a STI MOTORSPORT DAY fan event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of STI will be held at Fuji Speedway. The two GT300 class drivers will also make appearances at the event. For details, visit the STI website.
