SUPER GT Round 4 in Thailand (race June 30) Announced in Bangkok. Chairman Bandoh Promotes Highlightsの画像

6 On the afternoon of June 5, a press conference at the Sports Authority of Thailand in the capital of Bangkok to introduce the coming Round 4 of the AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, the Chang SUPER GT RACE, to be held on June 29 and 30.

 

 

In attendance at the packed conference venue were members of the press representing 31 newspaper and magazine publishing companies, 45 television companies and 48 online media, bringing the total of media companies to no less than 124. Introduced on stage to speak and answer questions from the press were dignified guests including Chairman Masaaki Bandoh of GTA Co.,Ltd, promotor of SUPER GT, Dr. Gongsak Yodmaee of the Sports Authority of Thailand and Mr. Tanaisiri Chanvitayarom, Managing Director of the race venue, Chang International Circuit (BRIC). Also introduced to the press were representatives of the event sponsors such as Chang and PTT and the team representative and drivers of the Thai-based racing team that will participate in the coming race, the No. 35 Panther arto Team Thailand.

 

 

When asked about the significance of holding a SUPER GT race in Thailand, Dr. Yodmaee of the Sports Authority of Thailand replied that this will be the sixth year that a SUPER GT round has been held in Thailand and he is proud and happy that the Sports Authority has been able to support this event. He went on to say that SUPER GT has served as a model of motorsport in Thailand, while emphasizing that he believes it has played a key role in the development of motorsport in Thailand.

 

 

BRIC’s Mr. Chanvitayarom said that the SUPER GT Thai round that now awaits it sixth hold was actually the first major race to be held at what was then the newly completed Chang circuit and that it still remains a learning experience each year that contributes to the training of race officials, thus indicating what an important race it has been for BRIC. He went on to say that he hoped the domestic media would help promote the event among the Thailand’s motorsport fans by reporting on how the Thai team is competing in the entire SUPER GT series and that they should come out to cheer for them. He also explained that besides the racing on the track there are also a variety of other events to be enjoyed as well as displays of Thai and Japanese foods. He added that this year has seen a big reduction in the cost of race tickets in hopes that more people will come to the circuit to watch the action in a more enjoyable environment then ever before.

 

 

Speaking about the highlights to look for in this year’s race, GTA Chairman Masaaki Bandoh explained that this is the last season to be competed under the current technical regulation before the full-fledged start of competition next season under the new “Class 1” regulation that unifies the GT500 class regulation with that of the German DTM series. He went on to say that years of maturation have brought the GT500 class cars to a performance peak that is resulting in new course records this season at each circuit, and that fans can expect to see that amazing speed demonstrated here at BRIC as well. Mr. Bandoh also recommended that fans pay special attention to former F1 world champion Jenson Button who won last year’s SUPER GT title in his debut season and will be competing here again in the Honda NSX-GT to the notice of race fans around the world.

Speaking about the GT300 class, Mr. Bandoh cited the new appearance of McLaren and Austin Martin cars to add to the exciting lineup of FIA-GT3 cars, and of course, the Thai fans will enjoy watching the performance of the Panther arto Team Thailand that has been competing in the SUPER GT series since 2017. Also joining the competitors will be another Asian team from Hong Kong. From this year, he added, coverage of all SUPER GT races is being seen by a worldwide audience on TV and the Internet thanks to live coverage on motorsports.com. that he hopes everyone will enjoy.
