Revised Schedule for 2020 Season SUPER GT Series Official Events

Revised Schedule for 2020 Season SUPER GT Series Official Eventsの画像

As a result of careful consideration regarding countermeasures for the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, GTA Co., Ltd. has changed the scheduling and venues for the 2020 season SUPER GT Series Official Events as follows (with plans for official schedule sanctioning from FIA and JAF). In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection for the spectators, the teams and other people involved in the races during transit between the race venues, the decision has been made to start the season with a no-spectator format for all race events (except for the races held abroad).

Plans call for further changes concerning the event formats to be made in stages based on close ongoing observation of the spread and/or contraction of the COVID-19 pandemic and the related societal conditions/developments.

In light of the sudden rise in infections by the coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout Japan from March of this year and the resulting need for us to place top priority on reducing the risk of infection for the race competitors and other people involved in the races during transit between the race venues going into this year’s season, we have been forced to make big changes in the scheduling and the venues for the rounds of this year’s SUPER GT series. We wish to apologizes to all of the fans who were looking forward to attending the races at Okayama International Circuit, Sportsland SUGO and Autopolis that we have been felt the need to cancel, and we ask for your kind understanding of these decisions, At the same time we wish to express our appreciation to all of the people involved at these three circuits for agreeing with our decision.

Furthermore, in view of the local conditions regarding the Malaysia Round, the decision has been made in discussions with the local promoters to cancel this year’s round there.

Although it will depend on the developments in the COVID-19 pandemic going forward, at this point in time we are planning to hold series races at all of the circuits as usual in the 2021 season, and preparations and planning of countermeasures have already begun. To all of the fans who have supported SUPER GT until now, we ask for your continued understanding and support of the SUPER GT series.

Furthermore, in order to help ensure that this year’s series is conducted in a safe and smooth manner, we have been preparing a comprehensive “Road Map” of the series contents prior to its start, so please access this information at the following address:
