On May 11th, with the Priority Preventative Measures put in place in the city of Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, due to the spread of COVID-19, GTA Co.,Ltd has decided to postpone the Round 3 Suzuka event that was scheduled for May 29th and 30th.

Alternative schedule will be announced after close observation of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, etc.

GTA kindly asks the fans, who were looking forward to the Suzuka event, for their understanding on the decision.

In the SUPER GT series, all members, including entrants, participating manufacturers, enterprises, media, etc., have been strictly following the infection prevention guideline as well as the roadmap for hosting official events that were set forth independently by the series, and all 8 events were held without having a single coronavirus cluster among the members last year. The measures has been enhanced even further this year where all members go through PCR test before each event and only who tested negative are allowed to enter the circuit. The season opening round and the second round were held without any issues.

The measures put in place in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, where Suzuka Circuit is located, allows up to 5,000 spectators in an event, however, the decision to postpone the event was made by taking into account the severe overstraining of local healthcare and to give first priority to the ordinary day of healthcare workers and residents of the local community of the circuit.

For alternative schedule, GTA will monitor the infection, severity of hospital bed occupancy at the relevant hospitals, etc. in Suzuka city and Mie Prefecture, and consider various options including no-spectator race as well as changing the venue, if required.
