Koudai Tsukakoshi
Before coming to AUTOPOLIS we had some heated discussions with the team while working on the machine settings. And coming into the race weekend there continued a veritable roller coaster of ups and downs in the conditions, but in the end, they were able to set up the car very well for us. The victory this time was also thanks to the efforts of the team and the support from Honda to repair the car in time for the official qualifying after Matsushita-san’s crash (in the official practice). And after that we two drivers were able to turn all those efforts into a victory. I am so grateful for this result.
Nobuharu Matsushita
I had a feeling that we would win today. The reason is that is the tremendous help we got from the team after my crash (in the Official Practice) to make the repairs (in time for official qualifying). So I felt that it was now my turn to help the team as I drove. That was the feeling that helped me drive aggressively but relaxed at the same time. After that I was able to leave the rest (to Tsukakoshi-san) with confidence.

It has certainly been a long time coming (this first win in two years). There were also times when we didn’t win last year because of mistakes I made, and there were many frustrating races. That is why I felt that I had to do something to pay back the team and the people at Bridgestone. This is my hometown circuit, and last year I was able to run well here, but we finished in 4th place. So, I am so glad that we were able to win this time.
Kouta Kawaai
In the qualifying it was so hard to catch the BZR (top qualifying car No. 61), so it was so good that I was able to take advantage of the confusion when the GT500 cars were coming through. We had a series of tough races this year, but now we still have a chance to go for the championship title. Since we have come this far, I want to get (the title), so I will work hard with the team now to prepare for the final round.
