GTA, the promotor of SUPER GT, has undertaken a revision of the 2024 SUPER GT Sporting Regulations, the results of which were released recently in the form of a Bulletin designated No.008-S.

Included in this Bulletin is a new sporting regulation entitled “Reserve Driver System” regulations. This new regulation introduces a system under which, if one of the two registered regular drivers on a team became unable to drive for some unexpected reason (sudden illness or injuries suffered before the race of an event, etc.), a previously registered reserve driver can take over the driving responsibilities of the disabled regular driver.
In the past, there have been cases in which a driver decided not to drive in the race due to such sudden illness or injury, or decided to enter the race knowing that they would be unable to complete the race. With the addition of this Reserve Driver System, measures can be taken to make sure that the entire team’s efforts will not go to waste and that the resulting disappointment of the fans can be avoided. Here we explain the contents of this Reserve Driver System.
