GTA held a regular press conference prior to the first race of the season, and Masaaki Bandoh, President and Chief Executive Officer of GTA, announced the race distance and duration of each race scheduled for this season.
After the 300km race of the season opening Okayama event held during the weekend, following Round 2 Fuji will be held as a 3-hour race. Round 3 Malaysia, an overseas event returning to the series, will be a 300km race. The Malaysian event will have more official sessions than other regular series events because there had not been an event since 2013 at the venue of Sepang. There will be an official practice session in the afternoon of June 26th (Thu), a second official practice session and the qualifying in the morning and afternoon of 27th (Fri), respectively, and the race in the afternoon of 28th (Sat).
Round 4 Fuji is planned to host two sprint races, one each on Saturday and Sunday (details including the race distance are currently under consideration). Round 5 Suzuka, Round 6 SUGO, and Final round Motegi will be 300km races while Round 7 Autopolis is going to be a 3-hour race.
