In a GTA Bulletin, the revisions in the Qualifying format, with the number of tire sets permitted per team at Round 2 at Fuji (3-hour race) and the required number of pit stops, etc., were announced.
Please note that this summary has been edited here by the SUPERGT.net editorial staff for the general public. For accurate official explanations, please refer to the specified Bulletin and the 2024 Sporting Regulations.

Qualifying Format Revisions

Concerning the process of determining qualifying order, until now a minimum qualifying lap time was set for both Q1 and for qualifying on to Q2, but under the new format no minimum qualifying lap time is set for Q1. Also, for cars unable to clear the qualifying, they were allotted a race starting grid position (actually their race was started from a pit start) but this format has been changed.

*Revised contents are shown in red letters.

●Q2 minimum qualifying lap time and grid order for car failing to clear the qualifying
・All cars must record a lap time in Q1.
・For Q2 the top three times in the two Groups are averaged and 107% of that average is taken as the minimum qualifying lap time that all cars must clear. However, this rule does not apply when Wet track conditions are declared.
・Cars that can’t clear the minimum qualifying lap time are designated as the cars that failed in the Qualifying and are not given a qualifying order. Also, regarding their position in the race starting grid, it is decided by the Steward of the meeting.

Before the start of the race, the cars that failed in the Qualifying take positions on the starting grid, but they must return to the pit after one formation lap and start the race from the pit (pit start). Cars that have not taken a position on the starting grid must wait until the green start signal is lit for their respective class before leaving the pit and entering the track.

When there are several cars in such positions, they will be allotted a grid position based on the following factors.

【Grid front】 ① Cars that ran in Q1/Q2 (Minimum qualifying lap time not cleared) *If multiple cars, they are allotted grid positions based on the order of Q1/Q2 Combined lap time.
          ↓
② Cars that ran in Q1 but not Q2 *If multiple cars, they are allotted grid positions based on the order of the best lap time in Q1
          ↓
③ Cars that don’t run in Q1 but run in Q2 (Minimum qualifying lap time cleared) *If multiple cars, they are allotted grid positions based on the order of the best lap time in Q2
          ↓
【Grid rear】 ④ Cars that don’t run in Q1 but run in Q2 (Minimum qualifying lap time not cleared) *If multiple cars, they are allotted grid positions based on the order of the best lap time in Q2
          ↓
【Grid end】 ⑤ Cars that don’t run in either Q1 or Q2 (No recorded time) *If multiple cars, they are allotted grid positions based on the order of the best lap time in Official Practice.

●Pit Work
Work in the pits is allowed during each session, but with the exception of the following operations, no pit work whatsoever is allowed from end of each session until the announcement of the cars subject to inspection (scrutineering after the sessions).
1) Assisting the driver in getting in or out of the car (fastening or releasing the seatbelt, drinks or wireless (radio))
2)Jacking up a car, bringing in a dolly board (vehicle skates) to change its direction and moving it.
3)Cooling the car, using a blower or fan
4)Measuring tire air pressure
5)Measuring of tire temperature by the tire supplier *added this time

Number of tires usable, etc., in a 3-hour race

Additional conditions adopted for Round 2 at Fuji concerning number of tires usable and number of required pit stops, etc.

The following rules were applied at Round 2 at Fuji as a 3-hour race.
1. The number of tire sets that can be brought in for use and the tire marking process
The number of dry-use tire sets that can be brought for the race week is six sets for each maker per car, and seven sets of wet-use tires.
However, for tire makers that have not won any races from the previous year up until the previous round of the series, they can bring one additional set per car.
Prior to the Official Qualifying, a maximum of six sets of dry-use tires (24 tires) are to be marked.
The dry-use tires used by each participating car from the Official Practice until the race start, including promotional events, must be marked tires.
*Notice from the editorial dept.: Until last year, in long-distance races that allowed additional tires to be brought in, they were not marked, and they could be used only after the start of the race. But from Round 2 at Fuji this time, the number of marked tires that can be used from the Official Practice was increased.

2.Third Drivers
Registering of a third driver per team is now permitted.

3.Series points for drivers
When a third driver is used, if the third driver drives a distance of less than 50 km (11 laps) in the race, no series points will be allotted for that driver.

4.Required number of pit stops (GT500 class / GT300 class)
Two pit stops that include refueling are required in the race.
The required pit stops must be completed between the time that the lead car passes the first SC line on the fifth lap of the race and the time that the lead car enters the last lap of the race (the fifth lap means the lap that the car enters after completing four laps of the track).
Also, when a pit stop is made during a Safety Car intervention, refueling is allowed but that pit stop will not be counted as one of the required pit stops with refueling.
