2025 SUPER GT Sporting Regulations Appendix-8 Knock-Out Qualifying Session – Procedure Details (abstract) 3. Sessions ① All competitor cars must participate and run at this session. Each car must have its lap time timed. ② The cars that scored the best lap times (GT300 =18 cars, GT500 = 10 cars) can proceed to Q2. When the Group division procedures are applied for GT300 at Q1, the top 9 cars from Group A and 9 cars from Group B will proceed into Q2. ③ The teams will be notified of the cars elected to join the Q2, through the lap time monitors. ④ The cars that do not make it to Q2 will line in the Qualifying results according to the Q1 lap times (GT300 = 19 position and downwards, GT500 = 11th position and downwards). When the GT300 Group division system is applied, the fastest lap time achiever in the Q1 fast group- the 10th position car, will be given the 19th position in the entire qualifying session results, and the other group’s Q1 10th position car will be given the 20th position in the whole qualifying session results. And the sequence continues downward in this alternating manner. 2) Q2 Only the cars eligible to continue in the Qualifying sessions after Q1 (GT300 = 18 cars, GT500 = 10 cars) may participate in Q2. ① The Qualifying raking will be determined according to the lap time achieved at this session (GT300 top 1st – 18th position, GT500 1st – 10th position). ② Any car that due to some reason is not timed during Q2 will join the Qualifying time table behind the cars timed at Q2 and according to this car’s Q1 time results.
・For the qualifying, positions were determined based on the sum of the lap times from Q1 and Q2 in the 2024 season, however, the 2025 season will adopt a knock-out format that was used in the past. ・In Q1, all cars run together in the GT500 class and the cars will be divided into 2 groups, Group A and B, in the GT300 class. ・The numbers of cars advancing to Q2 are top 10 cars of Q1 in the GT500 class and a total of 18 cars from Q1 (top 9 cars of Group A and B) in the GT300 class, which is different from former knock-out system. ・Qualifying duration is, for both classes, 10 minutes for Q1 (10 minutes for each group in GT300 class) and 10 minutes for Q2.
