【Rd. 4 FUJI: Race 2】 GT300 Race: Fujii in the D’station Vantage GT3 takes the win from pole position, the team’s second win of Round 4!

Race 2 of the FUJI GT SPRINT RACE, Round 4 of the 2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place on August 3rd at Fuji Speedway (one lap 4,563 m x 50 min.) in Shizuoka Prefecture. Round 4 this time was held as two sprint races, with the first Race 1 held on Saturday. On this day (Sunday) the qualifying and race of Race 2 were held. Unlike Race 1, this Race 2 was held as a 50-minute time limit race run in two separate races for the two classes. In the GT500 class, Fukuzumi in the No. 14 ENEOS X PRIME GR Supra defeated last year’s champions and winners of Race 1, the No. 1 au TOM’S GR Supra, to take the win. In the GT300 class, Tomonobu Fujii in the No. 777 D’station Vantage GT3 ran from pole position to take a perfect win, giving the team it’s a second straight win following the one in Race 1 by Charlie Fagg.

■ After a good start from pole position the No. 777 is chased closely by car No. 2 that had moved up to 2nd position

Race 2 was held in a format different from usual, with the two classes running apart in separate races with a 50-minute time limit as a spring race with no pit stop and driven by one driver different from the one that drove for the team in Race 1.

Starting from 2:15 in the afternoon with 2 formation laps and then the lighting of a green light to signal the start the competition of a 50-minute race.

At the start, the No. 777 D’station Vantage GT3 (Tomonobu Fuiji) starting from pole position held its lead, but the No. 4 GOODSMILE HATSUNE MIKU AMG (Nobuteru Taniguchi) that started from 2nd position suddenly had the No. 2 HYPER WATER INGING GR86 GT (Yuui Tsutsumi) trying to pull up alongside it. After a successful pass, No. 2 moved into 2nd position, thus forming a lead group of No. 777, No. 2 and No. 4. Behind them in 4th position came the No. 7 CARGUY Ferrari 296 GT3 (Zak O’Sullivan) followed by the No. 61 SUBARU BRZ R&D SPORT (Takuto Iguchi). But also in the opening lap there was a collision between the No. 6 UNI-ROBO BLUEGRASS FERRARI (Yoshiaki Katayama) that started from 13th position and the No. 31 apr LC500h GT (Miki Koyama) that started from 17 position. Both of these cars returned to their pits, but they had to retire from the race due to the machine damage.

In the early stages of the race, car No. 2 tried to hold on to the leading car No. 777, but the margin between them gradually continued to grow, reaching just under 1 sec. by the 10th lap. After that, a breathtaking battle for the lead continued between the two cars with the gap staying at just about 1 sec. Behind the leaders, on the 5th lap of the race the No. 61 SUBARU BRZ R&D SPORT running in 5th position suffered machine trouble coming out of the Coca-Cola Corner, causing it to come to a stop at trackside. From there it dropped out of the race.

■ No. 777 holds off No. 2 to take the win. No. 65 gets its second consecutive podium finish.

Entering the middle stages of the race, the positions of the leading cars remained virtually deadlocked, but the battle between No. 65 LEON PYRAMID AMG (Togo Suganami) and car No. 7 that had moved up to 5th position after starting the race from 8th position on the grip became more intense. Thanks to its momentum, No. 65 won this battle, and after around the 18th lap it began to close in on car No. 4 running 3rd position. Although No. 4 continued to battle on, it was finally passed by No. 65 at the TGR corner on the 22nd lap.

This changed the scene to one in which cars No. 777 and No. 2 battled for the lead while No. 65 chased them from about 5 sec. behind. Behind this, car No. 7 in the 5th position was overtaken by the No. 5 MACHSYAKEN AIR BUSTER MC86 MACH GO (Iori Kimura) with its strong pace. What’s more, it continued to close the gap on No. 4 and finally pass it to move up into 4th position. Behind this, an increasingly fierce battle for 6th position developed between the No. 52 Green Brave GR Supra GT (Seita Nonaka), the No. 18 UPGARAGE AMG GT3 (Yuto Nomura) and car No. 7, which had fallen back.

Running on ahead of that battle back in the middle pack, the tense battle in the 1-sec. range between No. 777 and No. 2 continued. And it continued that way until the 50-minute time limit expired.

In the end, Tomonobu Fujii in the No. 777 D’station Vantage GT3 reached the goal without ever giving up his lead for an impressive win from pole position. This made it a double win in Round 4 at Fuji for the D’station Racing team following the win in Race 1 the day before by Race 1 by Charlie Fagg.

Finishing in 2nd place by the slightest of margins came the No. 2 HYPER WATER INGING GR86 GT (Yuui Tsutsumi). Third place went to the No. 65 LEON PYRAMID AMG (Togo Suganami) that had fought its way up from 8th position on the starting grid, and by finishing 3rd in both races in Round 4 here at FUJI, the No. 65 driver pair of Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami managed to keep their lead in the Drivers standing.

As for the fierce battle that had played out behind the leaders, 4th and 5th places went to the No. 5 MACHSYAKEN AIR BUSTER MC86 MACH GO (Iori Kimura) and the No. 4 GOODSMILE HATSUNE MIKU AMG (Nobuteru Taniguchi) respectively, while the battle for 6th place was won by the No. 52 Green Brave GR Supra GT (Seita Nonaka).
