Race 2 of the FUJI GT SPRINT RACE, Round 4 of the 2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series took place on August 3rd at Fuji Speedway (one lap 4,563 m x 50 min.) in Shizuoka Prefecture. Round 4 this time was held as two sprint races, with the first Race 1 held on Saturday. On this day (Sunday) the qualifying and race of Race 2 were held. Unlike Race 1, this Race 2 was held as a 50-minute time limit race run in two separate races for the two classes. In the GT500 class, Fukuzumi in the No. 14 ENEOS X PRIME GR Supra defeated last year’s champions and winners of Race 1, the No. 1 au TOM’S GR Supra, to take the win. In the GT300 class, Tomonobu Fujii in the No. 777 D’station Vantage GT3 ran from pole position to take a perfect win, giving the team it’s a second straight win following the one in Race 1 by Charlie Fagg.

When the green light came on at 4:55 in the afternoon, the pole position-starting No. 12 ENEOS X PRIME GR Supra (Nirei Fukuzumi) ran strongly in the lead from the start. Starting from 2nd position on the grid, the No. 1 au TOM’S GR Supra (Kenta Yamashita) held 2nd position, while starting from 3rd position on the grid, the No. 38 KeePer CERUMO GR Supra (Hiroaki Ishiura) also held its place in 3rd position. Emerging in 4th position came the No. 39 DENSO KOBELCO SARD GR Supra (Yuhi Sekiguchi) that had started from 5th position.
By the time No. 14 finished the second lap of the race, it held a 1.147 sec. lead over car No. 1, and from there it went on to increase its margin of lead to 1.753 sec. on the 5th lap and 2.217 sec. on the 10th lap. However, after that No. 1 didn’t allow the margin to increase, and as a result the two lead cars continued to run in the lead with the margin between them varying from just over 2 sec. to 1.5 sec. as they ran lap after lap.
Meanwhile, the No. 19 WedsSport ADVAN GR Supra (Yuji Kunimoto) that had started from 4th position on the grid was passed on the opening lap by car No. 39, and on the 2nd lap it had a collision with the No. 12 TRS IMPUL with SDG Z (Kazuki Hiramine), and probably as a result of that, it was then passed in succession by the No. 8 ARTA MUGEN CIVIC TYPE R-GT #8 (Nobuharu Matsushita) and the No. 64 Modulo CIVIC TYPE R-GT (Riki Okusa), dropping it to 8th position.
Then, on the 4th lap No. 19 was caught from behind by the No. 24 REALIZE CORPORATION ADVAN Z (Teppei Natori) that had moved up to 9th position by passing the No. 3 Niterra MOTUL Z (Atsushi Miyake), after which a fierce battle developed between the two cars that continued until the last corner of the 8th lap. No. 24 pulled up on the in-side of No. 19 and emerged in 8th position, and from there it went on to also pass No. 64 on the 13th lap to move into 7th position. After that, a side-by-side battle developed between No. 24 and car No. 8 running in 6th position, which continued until the 1st corner of the 19th lap where No. 24 finally succeeded in passing No. 8 to move into 6th position.
After that, on the 20th lap No. 24 came under fierce attack by car No. 3, which had moved up by passing No. 8.
What’s more, joining these two would be the No. 37 Deloitte TOM’S GR Supra (Giuliano Alesi) that had started the race from the last position on the grid, thus making for a bunched three car battle. As for Alesi in car No. 37, he had come through the opening lap of the race in 12th position and from there he proceeded to move up by passing the No. 17 Astemo CIVIC TYPE R-GT (Koudai Tsukakoshi) on the 3rd lap, then car No. 19 on the 14th lap, and No. 64 on the 17th lap to take 9th position. On the 21st lap he also passed car No. 8 to take 8th position.
Finally, after running side-by-side from the 1st corner of the 28th lap, cars No. 24 and No. 3 collided at the Coca-Cola Corner. This caused No. 3 to run off the track, where No. 37 quickly came up on it.
After that the close battle between No. 24 and No. 3 continued until No. 24 was given a 5-sec. penalty for the collision on the 28th lap. This finally decided the outcome of the battle between the two.
Meanwhile, a change developed in the ongoing battle for the lead between Fukuzumi in car No. 14 and Yamashita in car No. 1. Entering the 29th lap, No. 14 held a lead of 1.413 sec. On the 30th lap that lead was down to 1.235 sec., and on the 33rd lap it dropped below 1 sec. to a margin of just 0.931 sec.
However, at that point the race reached its time limit of 50 minutes. As a result, the No. 14 ENEOS X PRIME GR Supra won its first race of the season, beating the No. 1 au TOM’S GR Supra by a margin of just 0.728 sec. For Fukuzumi, who had moved to the TGR TEAM ENEOS ROOKIE team from the Honda ARTA (No. 16) team, this was his gratifying first win since the move.
Finishing the race in 2nd position was the No. 1 au TOM’S GR Supra (Kenta Yamashita), which was unable to win its second straight race in Round 4 but nonetheless gathered a good number of series points by finishing in 2nd place that increased the lead of its driver pair of Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita in the Drivers standing over 2nd position. Finishing in 3rd place was the No. 38 KeePer CERUMO GR Supra (Hiroaki Ishiura). The 4th place finisher was the No. 39 DENSO KOBELCO SARD GR Supra (Yuhi Sekiguchi) that held off a strong attack by No. 12, which again resulted in TOYOTA GR Supra GT500 cars dominating the top places in Race 2.
Due to the collision on the 2nd lap of the race, the No. 12 TRS IMPUL with SDG Z received a 10-sec. penalty, but it still had a large enough margin over the cars behind to finish in 5th place as the fastest finisher among the Nissan Z NISMO GT500 cars. The fastest finisher among the Honda CIVIC TYPE R-GT cars was the No. 64 Modulo CIVIC TYPE R-GT that finished in 8th place.
