【Rd. 7 AUTOPOLIS:Qualifying】Pole Position Winner Comments

Round 7 AUTOPOLIS:Qualifying Press Conference

GT500 Class

No.3 Niterra MOTUL Z

Daiki Sasaki

“We were told that the track would dry out in Q2, but instead the rain got heavier, and I thought that we had lost the timing for a chance recover. However, no one had told us over the radio (from the pit) so I didn’t know we had gotten pole position until I returned to the pit (wry laugh). Until now, car No. 3 has been though some hard times, so I am glad we got this pole position. Today, the rapid changes in the weather made me feel that “I had run into a streak of bad luck”, but since we got pole position I hope to go into tomorrow (the race) feeling the “I am on a streak of good luck” and can work hard together with the team.”

“I am just very happy to get this second pole position in a row. (With the worries about the rain) when I left the pit the grip (of the tires) was no good and I was struggling just to stay on the track, which made me a bit warried. But when I got the tires warmed up, they gave me the grip I needed. The morning practice runs had gone well, so I kept that in mind and was able to keep on pushing hard until the end of my time attacks.”
