“Although we had won pole position in Round 5, we were disappointed to not win the race. So, this time at SUGO it means we have gotten a start line (pole position) that gives us a chance to make up for that. Since the real test will come in tomorrow’s race, I want to get ready mentally for that challenge. As for the fact that we set a new course record, I think it is probably the first one for me, so I am really happy.”

“The condition of the car was very good. In the morning’s Official Practice, the track was still wet, so we didn’t get enough chance to test our performance on a dry track, and to tell the truth I had some doubts. Despite that, it was good that I was able to get a good result on my first flying lap. I’m originally from nearby Yamagata Prefecture, so a lot of local home supporters always came to cheer me on, but until now I had not been able to perform well in races here, so I feel that this pole position was a good compensation for the support I have received until now.”
