With the conclusion of the 2026 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Official tests at Okayama and Fuji, the opening round of the season at Okayama is fast approaching (held on April 11th and 12th).

With this, we interviewed some of the drivers who will be the focus of special attention, as well as rookie drivers and newly added drivers. As we look forward to the start of the series we offer their messages to the SUPER GT fans.

In this 21st and final edition, we will be talking with Sven Muller, who has experience competing in the GT300 class in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, and in Europe he has years of experience as a Porsche driver who drove the No. 666 seven x seven PORSCHE GT3R EVO.

“I like the circuit at Okayama where this year’s opening round will be held. Our goal is to win the series championship. Throughout the season I want to avoid making any mistakes, while also concentrating and enjoying the teamwork as I compete.”

Sven Muller
No. 666 seven x seven PORSCHE GT3R EVO (GT300 class – returnee)

– Welcome back to SUPER GT! You previously competed in SUPER GT in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. After that you competed in race series in Europe, so would you tell us what made you decide to return here?
When I became a Porsche factory driver in 2017, my SUPER GT (GT300 class) career began as a factory driver, and that experience continued for two years. I really liked Japan’s race culture and also SUPER GT in its entirety.
After that I returned to Europe and progressed as a driver in the GT World Challenge. Then I came back here to Japan this year, where I hope to definitely win the championship title and further my career in the best possible way.

– Up to this point, you have completed the two Official Tests, so would you tell us about the atmosphere on your team and how it feels competing in SUPER GT again?
In SUPER GT there is now the tire development competition between the tire makers, and various tire makers are competing in it. For this reason, we are able to test tires with different structures and compounds. This is a special experience that you can’t find anywhere else. And this also makes me love Japan and SUPER GT even more.
In addition, the Japanese circuits are all wonderful. This includes Fuji, Suzuka and one of the circuits I especially like, Okayama (*). There are many great circuits here, which I believe makes for a strong season calendar.
Furthermore, SUPER GT attracts crowds of so many fans, even for its Official Tests, which is really unique. This is an experience you will only find in Japan, and although you can sometimes see it in the U.S., the number of fans is much more than in Europe.

*Muller drove the No. 7 Porsche in the opening round of the 2018 series at Okayama. After moving up in the order by successfully opting for no tire change, Muller drove the second stint and further moved up in the order to finish in 2nd place, and in doing so he took his third podium finish in SUPER GT.

– Well, in closing would you please tell us your goals going into the fast approaching opening round at Okayama and your goal for the season?
I believe that Okayama is a good course of the Porsche. Since our goal is to win the season championship title, I want to go throughout the season without making any mistakes, and while also concentrating on enjoying the teamwork as I compete. My teammate, Kiyoto Fujinami, is truly a wonderful teammate, and since he has already won the championship title twice, I feel confidence in the fact that he knows what to do.

Our team seven × seven Racing is very well organized and simply a wonderful team. My first impression of the team was truly wonderful, and that is why I enjoy working with the them so much. And since the teamwork is always good, I can’t wait to start the season opener.

Again this year, among the 22 drivers we have interviewed have been the previous year’s championship title winner, notable rookies and drivers returning to the series after time abroad, and we wonder if you have found among them someone you particularly like? With the opening round at Okayama fast approaching, we hope you will cheer on your favorite drivers and teams. We hope you will look forward to the opening round at Okayama!
